Arts for Youth Internship Opportunities

Arts for Youth, a not-for-profit program for children aged 7-12, is looking for mature students aged 16-18 to be teacher assistants in our program.

Internship Applicants must:

  1. Be mature
  2. Be responsible
  3. Enjoy working with kids aged 7-12
  4. Experienced and talented in one of the following artistic areas: Drama, Music, Visual Arts, Video Production, Creative Computing, or Dance!

If interested, please send a letter of inquiry to: Matthew Greene, Arts for Youth Associate Director, at matthew.greene@bridgew.edu

Please note that AfY internships fill quickly, so we recommend emailing your letter of inquiry in the early fall prior to the summer that you wish to work. In your letter of inquiry, please be sure to include any and all experiences you have had in the arts: camps or art schools attended; workshops or other classes you have taken; names of shows you have performed in, or worked backstage on; the number of years you have studied a particular art form (voice, instrument, dance, drawing/painting, etc.) We are also interested in knowing what experiences (if any) you have had working with children. Once we have received your emailed letter of interest, we will move forward in scheduling an interview, should a position be available.

Internships at Arts for Youth demand a six week commitment, in addition to one staff orientation day on the Friday prior to the first day of camp. AfY runs M-F, 9:00-4:00pm, and all staff are required to report to work at 8:45am. There is a mandatory Intern Meeting each Thursday afternoon, immediately following camp. This meeting usually runs about 30 minutes.
